Somebody just broke the record for 'most money spent on a Jordan item at auction' by shelling out $173,240 for Michael Jordan's game-worn jersey from his final regular season game as a member of the Bulls.
In that game on April 18, 1998, His Airness dropped 44 points against the Knicks at the United Center.
The $173,240 total eclipses the $105,000 spent on MJ's iconic 'Flu Game' Air Jordan 12s, which were the king of Jordan apparel before this auction ended on Sunday.
"No one who has been out of the game fewer than fifteen years has had items sell for these kinds of prices," said Ken Goldin of Goldin Auctions, which sold the jersey and a pair of game-worn shoes from the 1996 NBA Finals for $34,160. "Michael Jordan is the collectible equivalent of Babe Ruth."
The jersey also came with a letter from the Bulls vouching for its authenticity as being game-used.
