Camila Cabello is encouraging her fans to take a step back from their everyday hectic lives and dedicate special time to good ol' fashioned breathing.
The "Señorita" singer took to social media Friday (Aug. 23) to explain how breathing for five minutes during the day and living in the present moment has helped change her life for the better.
"To anyone on here who is struggling, which we all do sometimes cause we're human!!! I super recommend taking five minutes out of your day to just breathe," Cabello tweeted. "I've been doing this lately and it's helped me so much."
The singer went on to explain that she previously didn't understand the concepts of meditation and conscious breathing, but has now discovered how the practices can improve mental health and quality of life.
"I used to live so much in my head, constantly trapped in my overthinking and being in my head as opposed to the present moment- and lately just going back to my breath and focusing on it puts me back in my body and back in the present and helps me so much," she continued.
Last year, Cabello opened up about her obsessive-compulsive disorder in candid interview for the cover story of Cosmopolitan U.K.
“OCD is weird. I laugh about it now,” the singer revealed. “Everybody has different ways of handling stress. And, for me, if I get really stressed about something, I’ll start to have the same thought over and over again, and no matter how many times I get to the resolution, I feel like something bad is about to happen if I don’t keep thinking about it.”
Cabello continued to note that things got easier after she was officially diagnosed, clearing her confusion as to why she felt this way and paving the path to coping with the disorder.
