Luke Combs Invited to Join the Grand Ole Opry

Luke Combs’ 2019 keeps getting better; the country singer was recently invited to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry.

During his 16th appearance on the famed stage in Nashville on Tuesday night (June 11), Combs’ two-song set was interupted when Craig Morgan, John Conlee and Chris Janson came out to join the singer.

“How would you like to be the next member of the Grand Ole Opry?” Morgan and Janson asked in unison as Conlee stood beside them. Unable to get a word out, a tearful Combs simply hugged all three men.

“Holy cow! Are you serious?” he asked as they walked off the stage. “OK. ‘Cause if you’re not serious, that’d be really mean.” Combs then fought back tears to finish his set.

“Since making his Opry debut a little less than three years ago, Luke has become a favorite of fans and fellow artists here at the Opry while simultaneously becoming a chart-topping bona fide country music superstar,” said Opry general manager Sally Williams in a statement. “We’ve loved every minute of his Opry visits and are thrilled to invite him to become an official part of the Opry family. Luke’s heart is filled with love and genuine appreciation for the Opry, and we are excited this will be his musical home throughout what will no doubt be a long and rewarding career full of great music.”

Combs' invitation follows Kelsea Ballerini's induction into the Grand Ole Opry earlier this year.
