Margo Price released “Stone Me,” her first new song in over two years, on Thursday (Jan. 16). The three-minute track highlights Price’s delicate vocals alongside a driving beat and soaring piano parts.
"After what feels like an eternity, I'm releasing a new song into the wild today,” Price says in a statement. “It's been hard to keep everything I've been working on for the last year to myself and I'm so excited to share it."
The confessional tune, written by Price and husband Jeremy Ivey, details the difficulties a career in music often brings (“I almost went broke just from paying dues”), as well as the preconceived notions people have on a singer. Despite how outsiders feel about her, Price decides to stand her ground on the bold chorus.
“Love me, hate me/ Desecrate me/ Call me a b---h / Then call me baby/ You don't know me/ You don't own me/ Yeah that's no way/ To stone me,” she sings.
“Stone Me” is the first set of new music since 2017’s All American Made. Listen to the song below.
