Thomas Rhett is gearing up for the holidays with brand-new music. For the first time ever, the country singer has released holiday tunes, just in time for Thanksgiving.
On Wednesday (Nov. 20), Rhett unveiled an original song titled “Christmas in the Country” as well as his cover of the classic “The Christmas Song.”
The singer’s familiar vocals are at the heart of each holiday song, with “Christmas in the Country” bringing a lighthearted feel alongside vivid lyrics and an upbeat rhythm. The singer penned the tune with David Garcia, Ashley Gorley and Chris Tomlin, after nudging from his wife, Lauren, to release Christmas music.
“Christmas is hands-down my favorite time of year,” he said in a statement. "We have so many Christmas traditions in our family that include a lot of festive music, but I’ve never recorded anything myself. Lauren has wanted me to make some Christmas music for a long time, so this year felt like the right time to finally take a stab at writing something and to put my own twist on one of the all-time classics."
On the sweeping “The Christmas Song,” the singer puts his distinct charm on the holiday standard with a memorable string section and jazz-infused vocals.
